Faema Faemina Rebuild Set. The Faema Faemina, as pictured, is an early 1950's model. A review of the Faema Exploding diagram for the later model indicates that the gaskets & seals are identical - please review our Faemina Tech Pages to verify this! The Faema has a 2 part piston, with a main piston seal as well as a thick rubber seal between the 2 halves of the piston. Both of these function to maintain the seal between the boiler and the cylinder. This is a unique design for the home espresso machines, it directly mimics the action of a commercial spring lever machine. A small downward movement of the lever opens the seal between the 2 halves of the piston for preinfusion, when the lever is released at full spring compression the inner seal closes and the main piston seal takes over.
